Upon arrival she enrolled at Hopkinsville Community College in nearby Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She majored in broadcast communications while attending college there, with a goal towards a Journalism career. After two years there, she transferred to Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana where she changed majors to Political Science. She had always been interested in politics since her father introduced her to it as a young child. But, due to a series of circumstances she withdrew after a less than a year in attendance. While in attendance at Valparaiso University, Curling joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

—Cystic Fibrosis—
On March 22, 2006 Curling and her husband learned that their third child had Cystic Fibrosis after an appointment at The University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital. A few days after the diagnosis she developed a third pneumonia in the calendar year of 2006 and she had to be airlifted from their home in Cadiz, Kentucky to The University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital. After further consideration of care options Curling and Blodgett decided that Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital was a better choice for the Cystic Fibrosis treatment. Since hearing of Erin’s diagnosis, Curling has joined the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, as well as the one slated for Sumner County Tennessee this upcoming September. On May 18, 2006 Curling and Blodgett’s other three children were tested for CF, after a couple hour wait their two oldest children were found to have the disease. Curling also became a part of the Cystic Fibrosis Policy Alliance in May of this year.

—Politics—
Curling has been interested in politics for almost her entire life going back to childhood. She attended rallies for Republican candidates when she was very young. Her father was her greatest influence when it came to the political aspects of her life, in that despite his having a job where the employees were overwhelmingly Democratic, he was a Republican and held to Republican principles. Curling while attending Valparaiso University was the College Republican liaison for the unsuccessful congressional campaign for John Larson for Indiana’s 1st Congressional district, and despite the loss Republicans made strong gains. Later on in 2000 Curling was the East Jacksonville, Florida Representative for the John McCain Campaign due to McCain’s Campaign Finance Reform agenda. Later Curling reversed her position on the law that was eventually passed, saying that it didn’t achieve the goals it was meant to achieve. She is not in favor of such legislation in the future. Curling founded “Elect Romney in 2008″ - a blog for the discussion of our next President, Mitt Romney on June 22, 2005 with the goal of encouraging Mitt Romney the Governor of Massachusetts to run for President of the United States. One June 17, 2006 she travelled to Iowa for the Republican State Convention where she met Governor Romney personally. Curling herself has political aspirations for the future; should she choose to run she would run in one of three states, Michigan where she was born and raised, Kentucky where she presently resides, or Florida where her children were born, and where she lived for ten years prior to 2005.
