From The Boston Globe, September 19, 2004.
Her husband is Governor Mitt Romney, and she has five handsome sons, just as many beautiful daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren. But life for Ann Romney, 55, isn’t all perfect. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998 and continues to fight the disease. For the past year, however, she says she’s had more good days than bad, which she attributes in part to a near-daily regimen of horseback riding.
1. LAST CHRISTMAS, SHE BAKED WELSH COOKIES FOR MITT’S STAFF. “[My father, Edward Davies,] was a Welsh immigrant; he was born in Maesteg, southern Wales, to coal miners. I feel like I’m only a step away from there - I feel very tied to my Welsh ancestry.”
2. SHE WASN’T SEDUCED BY BEATLEMANIA. “I saw the Beatles perform in Detroit. I was a freshman in high school. The thing I remember was everyone standing up and screaming. I was a very practical person, even then, and I looked around and I thought, this is the silliest thing I’ve ever seen. We have the Beatles here, and we can’t hear them.”
3. SHE ALMOST GAVE JULIA CHILD SOME COMPETITION. “I did a couple of TV spots in Boston, cooking segments, and one of them was with [local broadcaster] Bob Lobel. He probably wouldn’t associate it with me, but he’d probably remember doing it. I did a French tart, and he obviously didn’t know a spoon from a fork. He was a total clown.”
4. SHE ENDS THE DAY WITH JERRY, GEORGE, AND ELAINE. “Mitt and I love Seinfeld. Almost every night, we watch an episode. For comic relief from the stress of the day, we’ll come home, and maybe it’s 9, 9:30, we’ve been out, and you don’t really want to go to bed, so we TiVo Seinfeld.”
5. NOT EVERYTHING SHE TOUCHES TURNS TO GOLD. “Probably something no one knows is that I taught a little French cooking school from my home. Mitt calls it one of my great money-losers, another one of my money-losers. But I loved it.”

Another interesting article from The Fix.
Former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-Mass.) continues to bring on an impressive roster of advisers with significant credibility inside the Beltway — a move aimed at battling Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to a draw among the small but influential chattering class.
Romney has hired Tony Feather, who will serve as a political adviser, and Carl Forti, who will be the campaign’s political director and one of four deputy campaign managers.
Chris Cillizza definitely recognizes Romney for what he is, a serious contender.
The additions of Feather and Forti — coupled with a handful of other recent Romney hires — reveal that the Governor understands the need to play this game. Watch his roster in the coming weeks to see whether he can lure other D.C. bigfoots to his cause.
We’ll see what other big names do join the campaign because I am sure there are more to come.
What an awesome video from the official Exploratory Committee.
Go watch, NOW!!!
Ann Marie
P.S. After you’ve been as impressed as I have watching it read the following instructions and CONTRIBUTE!!!
—–
Contribute NOW! - Time is of the essence, and I urgently ask you to donate to Mitt Romney’s Exploratory Committee for President 2008. It is very important in terms of the future of this country that we raise the needed funds for this campaign to get off to a good start. President Bush raised over $100 million in his campaign run in 2004, and this cycle will likely need much more than that. Contributions of even $10 can make a difference in this critical phase of the campaign cycle. Let’s get rolling and show Governor Romney what we’re made of!
Guidelines for contributing:
Individuals can give up to $2100, and couples can give up to $4200 per year.
Ways to contribute:
1. Visit this URL: Contribute, and fill in your information and donate by credit card. Please use fundraiser ID: 250001, and my name Ann Marie Curling.
2. Write a check with your donation amount (please write Ann Marie Curling - 250001 in the MEMO field). Print the form located at Contribution Form PDF, and fill in all the necessary information. Then mail your form and check to the following address: Romney for President Exploratory Committee, Inc., P.O. Box 55899, Boston, MA 02205-5899.
Greetings fellow Romney supporters! This will be my first post on the blog, and I am thrilled that Ann Marie asked me to help with Women For Romney. I am a life long Massachusetts resident and have been a supporter of Mitt Romney since he was elected Governor. I’m committed to seeing him elected the next President of the United States. But without further ado, let me get on to something substantive…
In the Washington Post’s “The Fix- The Line: 2008 Beings Now” Romney is ranked at number two behind John McCain and ahead of Rudy Guiliani. This is where he was the last time they did this, however, I think it’s telling considering the scrutiny of his social stances in recent weeks.
Romney’s political talent is unmatched on the Republican side, but he must show that there is some steak beneath that sizzle to make a real run at McCain.
I definitely think we will see that “steak” on full display in the coming weeks and months!
